2013 Hampton Bay Days, Downtown Hampton September 6-8, 2013 YouthBands
The building of the 2012 Christmas float that won first place.........over 180 man hours vested!
It took one week, 35 volunteers, and over 180 man hours of labor to put together what we have been told was the best float in the fleet! At 32 feet with extensions, two drummer platforms, 35,000 L.E.D. Christmas lights, stage lighting, a 4000 watt sound system with 8 speakers, 3 amplifiers, a 32 channel mixing console, 2 generators, 2 bands, 16 microphones and nearly a mile of cable, it was the hottest thing in the 2012 Hampton Holly Days Christmas Parade. A huge heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped or donated product for the creation, especially John McLaughlin for the use of his truck, Lockwood Bros. Crane & Rigging, Will Phillips and his family for the use of the trailer and the warehouse facility, Vince DeBono for the lighting, Kevin Wilkins for sound equipment, Norman Fitzgerald as the sound man, A.C. White as the construction supervisor and Bob Kelly's generator. A special thank you to the Will Phillips Family and Lockwood Brothers Crane & Rigging for the use of their facility and equipment. Thanks to John McLaughlin for the use of his truck. Thank you City of Hampton for inviting us LAST YEAR to perform THIS YEAR! YB President Doug Hall was the project manager.
Here are a few time laps photos of the float build..........note how we extended the front and rear.
Warming up for the parade is The Bria Kelly Band, The UnXpected and Blue Ridge's own, Jon Moore. Video courtesy of Doug Hall.
